Just an update to let you know Olivia is recovering really well from her spaying op on Thursday. She is such a lovely girl and we are delighted that she is now part of our family. Thank you for being so welcoming, when we visited at Christmas. It was clear just how much Olivia adored her carers at the kennels. You do a fantastic job under some very difficult circumstances. Hope to say 'hello' again later in the year. Best wishes and big licks from 'Livvy'.

I recently lost my little Westie after 8 years. She was a rescue dog and brought my husband and I much happiness and companionship over that time. We loved her dearly but because of the huge void in our lives we are looking to 'adopt' another dog. We would like to have a Westie but if this isn't ;possible we would like any small breed dog. We haven't visited the Centre yet but mean to do so as soon as possible. We have stacks of time, as we are retired, and could devote time to a new dog. Keep up the good work people.

I stumbled across your site whilst looking to adopt a Bearded Collie. I rescued my two Beardies some 13/14 years ago but sadly they both died earlier this year. I am ready to do it all over again so if anybody out there can help I would be very grateful. Thanks

I recently adopted "Herbie" from you-a JRT/Chi cross, who was being fostered by Eve. I saw the ad on the preloved site just a day after losing our 7 year old JRT Harvey-we think to a stroke. Herbie was being called Harvey by Eve and her family-so it seemed like fate and we had to have him! He has settled in well, although he does need work on his manners on the lead and he still barks at one of our cats-alot!!

I have quite literally just stumbled across your site, i typed in boxer x pointer pup and up popped Kasey! What a beautiful girl i was almost reduced to tears, she has the same look on her face that my beloved Jasper had. Maybe i should explain. Jasper was a boxer x english pointer that i took on as an unwanted pup 13 years ago. I had to let him go in august after a short illness, i miss him so very much he was my soul mate, my best friend, my life! I admire anyone who befriends and helps all animals god bless you.

Jan & Keith Miller
We met our gorgeous Staffie bitch Lily back in June and fell in love with her on sight ( so similar to my previous Staffie bitch who was killed in a road accident). Lily she was not quite a pushover but we got her in time! HWAR were wonderful keeping her for us until we had moved to a house where we could have pets and we offically adopted Lily Lou aka Lily Pig!! only ten days ago. After an evening pacing the floor she settled down and day by day has settled in so well it seems we had her from a puppy. She now has one settee all to hereself and loves cuddles, walks and 'kills' one tennis ball a day. She is very patient and tolerant with our lively 12 month old grandson who calls her "Yiyee". She hates the rain so a doggie- coat is in the offing and she will go to great ends to avoid puddles!! .......but she loves her country walks and big garden....She is happy, eating well and VERY obedient and the credit for that is entirely due to the care, love and attention she received from the staff at HWAR for the three months she was with them, ...not the easiest of dogs for them as she hated being left alone and was quite demanding but despite that I know it was difficult for one member of staff particularly to ssee her go but rest assured she is in a loving and happy home. We will always be grateful to HWAR and if Lily could talk she would say a huge Thank You as well! It's a great team at HWAR deserving of support and funding to keep up their fantastic work.

cant believe its been 12 months since we got bobby, the american bulldog who is now just called bob from your kennels at hamnish, he settled in very quickly with us and its like we've had him forever. he comes everywhere with us when we race our horses and everybody always comments on what a smashing dog we have. ive done a few companion dog shows with him and have done really well. he is very much a special lad even if he does have selective hearing on times but i just put that down to him being male!!!!

HI An update on Sam, the lovely choc and white Collie boy we adopted in March. He has settled so well, we had a few little issues when he found his feet, towards our other dog Tess But these seem resolved. He is so loving and still cant help himself but to give u an enthusiastic snog many times a day, lol. He and Tess enjoy each others company too. He is learning agility and progressing well and is very focused on us when training. And what is very nice is when many people comment that we have 2 lovely and so well behaved dogs. We have bought a tent and have put it up in the garden, Sam was very scared of it as we were putting it up, but soon lost his fear and is in and out of it now. So we shall be taking them camping soon. Ginny

Ray & Emma
We took in a Staffie called Jake back in january and he is an absolutely amazing chap:) At first we were unsure how he would fit into our family and with our 2 Rottie females but its like he has lived here all his life. He is treated like the baby of the family, sleeps in our bed, has his bath and the only dog allowed to lie on my sofa:) he is a funny little character trotting about without a care in the world and is never any trouble considering the condition he was in when we had him from you. Its truly amazing how big his heart is and how well he has settled in, I think my boyfriend would be heartbroken if anything happened to him. Jake is like a little firework when you come in from a days work cos he is so very happy to see you. We are very glad and happy to have him as part of our family. Thanks Emma & Ray

Thanks for all your help with Chops. I've just seen his pics on here looking for a new home. Makes me so sad that I had to let him go but hope somebody can give him the love and attention that he so deserves. He's a beautiful boy and I miss him dearly but he deserves better.

We adopted Larry (a white and tan JRT - tan face, big tan spot in the middle of his back, and another tan spot round his stumpy tail) in April. I was afraid that, having been a stray, he would be very independent and not relate to us. 8 months on and he is a thoroughly established member of the family, always wanting to play or have a cuddle. He's a smashing dog and I can't imagine life without him. Goodness knows what would have happened to him if you hadn't been there to look after him when he needed it.

Dear animal Friends,, I am just read your story! Thank, Thank you it is nice to know people like you are out there helping the animals.Where would Mankind be without the companionship of our beloved animals. There are plenty of people who help the humans-who cares about the poor animals??? You guys obviously do, it makes me feel better knowing that there are so many Animal lover,,, Thank you people for what you do for them. I wish more people cared about animals. It's so sad that many people just do not care about animal suffering. I cannot say this enough: everyone needs to spay or neuter their pets. There's too many animals that go to waste because people don't want to get theirs fixed. Have a heart adopt! soooooo many animals not enough good people! *...Saving just one pet won't change the world ...but, surely, the world will change for that one pet...* The animals have no voice with which to Thank you, but I do. And so on their behalf, I thank you for your compassion, generosity and caring. May God bless you hope your having a pleasant day take care and have a wonderful time and alot of joyful moments with your pets in your life and please do keep up the good work. You Can Make a Difference! You get out of life what you put into life. We all have a voice we just need to use it. But if we stick to it we can make a difference! Have a nice Day They say animals cant speak for themselves, but really, they speak all the time, to those who have ears to hear. Animals Friends have always heard them. www. I had my lovely 15 year old Yorkie Lexie from H and W rescue 18 months ago,she has poor health and we often visit the vets but she is the most loving beautiful little dog that anyone could wish for!! Last year she won your rescue class at your show and came home with a big cup!She has just had another holiday in Wales and loves to spend time with me and our other 4 dogs. She sleeps right next to me all night and as she cant hear sniffs to make sure I,m still there.Out of all my dogs she is the one that i,ve had the least amount of time, but she is the one who follows me every where!Thank you for giving me my lovely girl who I treasure !!!

What an informative site. My husband and I are fosterers and have been doing it for many years for various rescues, at the moment with one in the forest area. Anyone who reads this and considers fostering but are slightly unsure, PLEASE do think about doing it as it is well worth it. We will happily help almost any organisation with dog fostering as it really benifits the dogs. Keep up the good work Hwar.

This site is really helpful and easy to view and read. We think it's great what you're doing to help get all those beautiful dogs rehomed. We've never had a dog, but recently we've been thinking about adopting one and this site was a great help. We will be dropping by soon, no doubt!

The Malsoms
Thank you for Chip, a Saluki X who is sooo naughty! He is lovely, has a mad wild look about him. He has fitted in well with our other dog, the rest of the family and all the other dogs he meets down the field every day. He is a typical male teenager, can't get him out of bed in the morning, he prefers my sons double bed, he suffers from body odour when he's been out running, like my son!! And like all boys loves getting dirty. Considering his ancestry we think he was the runt of a litter, out of wedlock!!!! He's a smashing dog, just very naughty, climbing on the kitchen worktop during his first week and breaking two collars and a lead. He's getting better and we wouldn't be without him. We think he has killed about 20+ squeaky toys and unstuffed numerous soft toys, all his, many were for Christmas which i think was a lovely time for him as well as us. Our other dog is on his way over to the other side in the next few months so may be back for another piece of fun, smaller one though. Thanks again, hope Lucy (the lurcher he was found with) is doing ok

We rehomed Ronnie a labrador x a few weeks ago and he is settling in well. He gets on with our two dogs very well and is now part of the family. he enjoys running freely outside and going for walks around the countryside, along with playing with his toys. He is a loveable but cheeky chappy but we love him loads and are so glad that we have rehomed him from you near Leominster.

Hi I would love to help out the only thing is im not sure where you are stationed?? I live in Glasgow Scotland & I recently put a bit in their guest book to saying i would love to help out dog walking or fostering as i love all types of dogs I had a staffy which someone brought to my door on the 4/01/08 she was an old dog i couldnt see her wondering the street like she had been doing & i didint know the 1st thing about staffy's apart frm i was scared of the look of them but i couldnt see this poor animal living on the streets as their is a lot of cruel people out there these days:( So wheni signed the gueat book for the Scottish Staffordshire Dog Rescue 1of the lady's there got in touch asking me a big favour someone had got in touch with her regarding a Johnson's Bulldog i had never seen a Johnson's Bulldog before but over the phone i said i would foster the dog no problems :) the dog was with me that afternoon & to my surprise he looked more frightening than a Staffy but like the Staffy the Johnson's Bulldog was a lovely Big Dog the only thing wrong was he was too big for my home i kept Bubba for a few days till the lady found him another foster home although i miss him he is still waiting to be rehomed he is just over 1yr old & a loveable big dog iim sure the right person with the right size of home will rehome Bubba as he is no trouble what soever im jsut sorry my house wasnt a bit bigger or Bubba a bit smaller. Hi all Thank-you for all you do. We were absolutely devastated when we had to have our old dog put down and wondered if we could ever have another. We came out to you to see another dog who was not right for us, but then we saw Luci ( you called her sophie and carol called her miss piggy!). Sh was in a bit of a state but there was just something about her and we knew we ad to have her. She is the best dog we ould ever wish for. She loves us as much as we do her. She is waggy and licky and just beautiful. THANK-YOU THANK-YOU THANK-YOU

Its been 12 months now since I adopted Max a yellow lab who was 7 months old when I had him from the kennels near Leominster. He has grown into a confident, bouncy, HUGE, cuddly, cheeky chappy who loves life, football, food and spending time with people. I work in a residential home with adults who have learning disabilities and he often comes with me, their faces light up when he comes in and they enjoy watching his antics!! I love him to bits and so does everyone who meets him. Thank You for the opportunity to meet Max and I'm sure he's thankful for the opportunity to meet me. x

Our beautiful Jack Russell dog died just before Christmas last year at the age of nearly 18 years. We don't ever think there will be another dog to replace Ben, but after visiting your web site this morning, we will be in touch soon to come and see your lovely dogs in the hope that one of them will consider us giving it a nice home. See you very soon.

Helen (Papillons)
Just visited your site for the first time as am donating you a boxful of goodies and i can see they are going to a worth while cause. Saddens me to see so many Adult dogs that must have had a prior normal life and then suddenly their world gets turned upside down. Those owners shud be made to sit and stare into your photos of dogs - they shud be made to look into each ones eyes and really see what pain they cause., each and every day to drill it in. Little private run dog rescues need all the help they can get as they, only they truely are for a dog from birth till death - enabling it to live its full life and not cutting it short for the sake of metal coins ! Keep up the good work and i will try help you as much as i can PS: I visited "No Name"'s tree to read his message and it made me cry - everyone shud read it as it hits home just what these dogs go through & how little time some have left to be shown that humans can be care...

Well just a note to say thank you! We have brought Becks home, and its as though he was always here with us! He and Betty my other dog are great pals, just been for their morning hour and a half in the woods, charging round the field with a stick each....so lovely to watch! Becks cant keep up with her yet, so now crashed out after a bit of toast. Heaven knows what some animals are going through, you are doing a great job under very difficult circumstances, lets hope there are forever homes for dogs where they can play and be loved and fed properly,,,what they deserve. Becks has had his problems, but I am very hopeful that when he feels secure and knows he is staying with us forever they will all disappear. So far he hasnt let me down at all....and he just adores my boys...the feeling is mutual obviously....he wont even sleep with me....has to be with the boys! Many thanks again xxxxx

Such a tragedy to see just a hand full of stray dogs in the kennels and i'm sure there were more there that we did not see! I do so admire what you are all doing, from walker, donators, organisers, fosterers and fortunate people like, "my family" finding such a smashing dog in "Harris", now known as "Jasper" a Jack Russell Terrier. He and our other dog Spike (another Jack Russell Terrier) get on so very well, they totally adore each other, and not one bad word spoken between them. I gave them a chance this morning to get to know each others company without supervision (yes i braved going into town to get a name/contact disc), they were absolutely fine. (if only i knew what sort of life he had before we gave him a loving home) I can only presume the people that view sites for Animal Rescue have the same feelings as me, one of disgust to think that anyone could treat any animal with such disregard.... I could rant and rant about this all day, alas I have done the next best thing and have given Jasper a warm, loving, clean, active home to enjoy for the rest of his life. Hes not going anywhere, that I can assure you. Good Luck in finding new homes, I would like very much to help out after Jasper has settled himself in. Great Job you are doing, you should be proud of yourselves. Kind Regards Helen (and Jasper too) Kind Regards Helen ps i have attached a couple of pictures of a very happy Jasper a friend for life for Spike. Please feel free to send the pictures and contents of this email to the team at Meadowbank Farm.

Have just found your website, it is very upbeat and encouraging, your love and care for the dogs and their welfare is very apparent and heartwarming. My son does the same work in the North West, he is a very small concern, with more dogs than he can house at times. My husband and I help and support him where we can, but the number of brilliant dogs abandoned and not claimed is just unbelievable. I am constantly dumbfounded. Keep up the good work, you will always be needed! www.wolfwood.co.uk

I met a lovely lady today on castle meadows in abergavenny by the name of Fran, she told me all about your website and the wonderful work you do. I have surfed your site and true to her word, its fantastic, I only wish I lived in a small house with lots of land, I'd home all the dogs in need of a home, but I don't and have to face reality. But there are other things I can do to help and have emailed you and told you about them. Please send my regards to Fran, I am the lady with the very large GSD. KEEP UP THE HARD AND GREAT WORK

Having just put our most beautiful girl Jess to sleep after 11 many happy years (she was a retired greyhound and was 13 when she left us), I am looking to find a forever home for another lovely girl (maybe 2). We have given many dogs a new home and this is the only time we have never had a dog in the house, we just can't be without them. We will be coming to see you and your dogs soon. Lisa, Jamie and Jack from Oxford.....keep up the good work its fantastic.

Thankyou so much for little Ben! We love him so much, without him our livingroom wouldn't look like the garden! (Chewed sticks, bones, tennis balls, shoes - you name it he tries to eat it.) http://file040b.bebo.com/2/original/2008/06/21/21/2587678260a8087434166o.jpg He's our little monster :)

I came across your site a week or so ago, what fantastic work you are all doing! We recently had to put our rescue dog to rest after a 6 month battle (AIHA) Trixie turned out to be a beautiful dog, she came into our home in 2002, aged 16 weeks. She was such a joy to have and we feel blessed she entered our lives, it was easy to tell she loved her life with us, she gave so much back, in more ways then one. Trixie was very weak when we got her and very cautious of men She had been rescued from Ireland and we knew very little about her background. I'd like to paste a link with a few photos taken of Trixie last summer, you can see how happy she was. She is greatly missed. One day we shall again rescue another one, my heart goes out to all of them. Tricia http://triciaa.myphotoalbum.com/view_album.php?set_albumName=album01

We had a fantastic day at the show and were so proud of Poppy, winning 2 classes and the winning best in show, not bad for a little rescue dog from Cardiff. Louis and Luca took the cups to school and Poppy got a round of applause in assembly! Thank you for such a lovely day.

Cleo found us in Jan 08, she was 9mnths old and I think she's been around a bit. She is now settled and seems to be enjoying her new life. She loves lots of attention, chewing tennis balls (and anything else) and barking at the cat. A very playful sweetie, beagle x wippet, try catching one of those when she having fun in a wood!

I rehomed a collie x 7 years ago when she was 8 months old Millie is now 8 - she had been so badly treated you couldn't get near her she still not does not like to be picked up due to memories of bad treatment even the vet was in doubt. With hard work and a lot of love Millie is the most wonderful companion and I have a little sausage dog to keep her company - I just want to say give a rescue dog a chance the rewards can't be put into words her love is unconditional and she is so loyal every dog deserves a chance. Hi, Would just like to say I have a rescue dog. My other dog sadly died and for 5yrs I refused another until Ben turned up at my workplace, chain embedded in his neck terrified of people and very aggressive. It took me 3 days to win his trust with my chicken sandwiches! I have had Ben just over 7years now, he is such a loving dog and adores my 7 year old Daughter. Ben was just terrified and clearly had been beaten.luckily he was still young, around 18mnths but took about 3 years for him to completely trust people To have a rescue dog with problems is hard work but very rewarding and sometimes they can be turned around.I am seriously thinking of getting a companion for him.Good luck for all the wonderful work you do.

Hi there, I think your site is really special. It gives us hope that there are still thousands and more people out there who really love animals and are prepared to love and look after them well after the sometimes terrible experiences they have had. I am hoping that I can adopt Misty a little JRTxBorder Collie you have in foster care at the moment. Wish me luck Love Mary x

Even though we're not allowed a dog I love looking at all the sucess stories. If we were to get a dog, it would be a young boxer that could be left alone for a couple of hours and is fine with children. I f anyone has one in Oxfordshire/ Warwickshire/ Northanptomshire area (or asurrounding areas) let me know.

Some sad news to report - following bad health and her medication no longer working Suki had to be put down. Although, of course, I am very sad at her loss I like to think that I gave her almost four years more than she would have had otherwise. Adopting animals is one of the most fulfilling things you can do in life and I would recommend it to anyone who is capable. Keep up the good work HWAR.

Just happened across your site and had a look round was perticulary taken by Yorkie Land my wife and I having had 2 yorkies ourselves up until last year when sadly the last of ours died, they are great little dogs and your pictures brought back fond memories of our own, we currently have a rescued rescue dog a working spaniel by the name of suzie she was around my sons house which we were decorating for the arrival of a baby and she was always around skin and bone as they say when we were packing up to come home I had been putting stuff in the car and next thing you know she is in, The vet did not give her much of a chance of survial and to very little for her care, she was a fighter and now she full of life and living the high life with us. We wish your centre all the very best for the future and shall be back to look in to Yorkie Land again. Would dearly love to find one to take care of we may find one out there yet. P.S. We live in Scotland but can`t find any here as yet

Hello, I have just visited your site and thought it was very good. I am interested in finding a small dog (preferably a yorkie or a yorkie cross). I live in the Stoke-on-Trent area and have looked in my local dogs home but am not having much luck. I live in a terraced house about 50 yards from the park and have surrounding fields close to my home. I only work four hours a day, just 5 minutes away from my house so have time on my hands. Please could I register for a homeless dog with you? Many thanks.

Hi, just wanted to to tell of the 3 beautiful additions to our family adopted from HWAR. Gezelle, our little rottiex, her dad Zac, greyhoundxstaff, and little Rosie, whos bark is bigger than she is! Gez, is a beauty, boisterous, friendly and full of fun, and stubborn to boot, but will do anything for a treat! Zac, is a gentleman, he smiles, he talks,he farts and he likes his belly rubbed, hes a little lamb, well, maybe not so little! And Rosie, the little fluffy JRTx, shes a cuddle monster and loves to be tickled. She torments poor Zac untill he tells her off but she gives as good as she gets, and i love nothing more than to see her and Gez playing, my 2 little girls. We couldnt be happier, even the cats have forgiven us! So thank you all at HWAR, and keep up the good work, for without you, these beautiful babies may not have been given the second chance that is their right. Nadia.xxxx

Hello all. Just a brief note to let you know how my HWAR rescue dog is doing. "Whisper" arrived just before Christmas 2003 and was renamed Suki. She wasn't well and had to have an operation and treatment, but recovered well and is now at a good healthy weight. She used to really hate other dogs, even attacking them and drawing blood! Now she's much more relaxed and has even made some canine friends. I'm so happy with her progress and love to take her for walks on the beach and in the country - she particularly likes wading through puddles! With the second anniversary coming up I'm thinking of finding her a new little playmate. Well, keep up the good work! Mayanne.

I lost my 'little sister' on Friday. Megan spent 18 (and a bit) years with me, and all the family miss her terribly. As a collie x springer she was both my nanny and my play mate and I can't think of a nicer way to remember and honour her memory then with a living tree memorial. I stumbled across this website purely by accident and I'm glad I did, I have now added it to my favourites.

Hi, I have just come across this website and I too think that the Living Tree Memorial is a lovely idea. It is so sad that so many animals are unwanted and abused and it is brilliant that there are loving and kind people that devote their time to looking after these sad animals. I would so love to adopt one of the dogs and have recently enquired about one so fingers crossed! I adore animals and I would start up a rescue centre myself if I had the funds etc. Anyway, keep up the excellent work HW Animal Rescue and I will be a frequent visitor to your web-site. Well done to you all.... Love Candy and Family xx

I am 10 years old, nearly 11. My birthday is next month and i would love another dog, I have got a cat who is 5 called sophie and a black labrodor who is 1 called rolo. Rolo is a big dog very friendly, but he takes advantage of little dogs. I was looking to convince my parents to get a friend for Rolo to live with us, quet a big dog and very friendly. He needs to be close to us so we can pick him up we live in newcastle and he has to be a BOY. I am not saying I will defnetly bye one but I will keep a open mind. The website is fantastic and the dogs are very cute I love this website!

The Living tree memorial is a fantastic idea, my adored Boone now has a tree dedicated to his memory. I adopted Boone when he was 10 years old, we had a fantastic five and a half years together more than I could ever have hoped for before sadly I had to let him go. Boone was a very handsome German Shepherd cross and I was very lucky to find him and will never forget the difference he made to my life.

I have recently lost my 'special girl' , a border lab cross, after 12 glorious years together. Your living tree memorial is such a fantastic idea - I have just spent 15 minutes crying and reading the messages and thinking of my own dear 'Bessie'. I am so lost without her and have been thinking of giving a home to a rescue dog so that I can feel I am doing some good. It has only been a few weeks since she died so I am not quite ready to adopt yet but I will certainly be making regular visits to your website and when I am ready, giving a home to one of the dogs you have rescued. You all deserve such praise for the work you do. My very best wishes to you all.

Message for April Dear April, I was sorry to read of the loss of your beloved girl. You are naturally still missing her immensely. I don't know whether you have heard of the Pet Bereavement Support Service? Hello I have recently found your Animal Rescue. Having looked through it you do so much to help these pets. I lost my dog one year ago and I miss her so much. Being unable to work, though I am mobile. She was my companian. Sat with me and talked though sadly she was Deaf like myself, we understood each other. Then my heart broke. She was found to be going blind too, I had to let her go. 18 years. Then gone. I will keep looking in your HW. Hope you don't mind I put in a little memento in your rainbow Bridge fot my Lost loved gog Thankyou,

I rescued Squishy (now Spike) a lovely Staffy X back in February from Dog Pages. He's settling in great here in Jersey & is loving the beaches. Chris & Trish were fantastic in helping me bring my baby home I have recommended HWAR to everyone. I can honestly say if the worst happens & I lose Spike I will definately come looking again...

What a wonderful web site, would like to know more about Rainbow bridge as my poodle is now 15 and I dread the day we are without him, seeing this site has given me somewhere to think of using to remember him. Wishing you all the very best in your wonderful work. So proud of you Darling Sarah. Love Auntie Judy x

i have 2 GSDs at the moment living with us, the older 1 is 5 yrs old an the baby is 6 mnths.the more i read in these rescue pages the more i would like to do to give another dog a good home.it amazes me how someone can have a dog in their home for years and suddenly give it up.my dogs are as important to me as my children and id fight to the death for them. if you have a yorkie needing a good home id love to help, just drop me a line either on msn or via e-mail. keep up all the good work you all do. great site.

Hi, I am Lucy. My mom is crazy about Yorkshire Terriers. Me, my dad, my mom, and not forgetting little Jack recently went to the Dogs Show in Hereford, we had a fab time although it rained quite a bit! My mom rescued Jack from HWAR and he lives happily with my family. My mom has asked Carol to find another dog for us so Jack can have a friend! I hope you find us a Yorkie Carol! xLucyx

I have fostered dogs for a local chariety group for 4years, and after speaking to one of your members I am interested in helping you, I will be moving to a larger house in 3months time so I will be able to foster dogs for you If you want, my succuss rate is a 100% on rehoming. Sometimes I have had a stray in for 6months until I thought it was suitable to be rehomed

To all the hard working ladies ... I'm sure there are a few chaps too ... although you didn't provide me with a dog .. we did try .. the miles inbetween were just too many. Over the time I was in contact with HWAN, I became aware of all the hard work and effort, foster homes and of the others who work in the background helping to find homes for unwanted dogs. My appreciation was sent in the form of a small donation. I hope that others who try to obtain a dog from your rescue realize that a small donation is so helpful. All the best to everyone and thanks for your encouragement and your patience... it all paid off in the end and we have a new dog. Thanks again Stan

Wonderful site, I have nothing but admiration for the work you do.

I have lost my little friend Sam a crossbreed terrier this week after 14 long and happy years together, my heart is broken but maybe one day I will feel the need for another dof to enter our lives, Your site has inspired me to consider rescue dogs.

I drove for over 8 hours to collect "Harry" last Monday! ( He is the Cocker called Goldie pictured last week on this site) He settled immediatley and he is dozing at my feet whilst I write this. We have two long walks in the woods and fields every day and a stroll around the village at night. I took him to my vet yesterday to get him microchipped...they said it was nice to see a smile on my face again and described him as a nice honest dog! I am taking two weeks holiday from my job as a psychiatric nurse to give him some security. When I return to work it will only be for three days a week and I have arranged for a lovely lady in the village to walk him and give him companianship. As I am a ward manager and have my own office I am looking into the possibility of taking him to work with me...the hospital is very interested in pets for therapy and I know that my patients would love him. I am sure I was "guided" to choose Harry and we are going to have many years of happiness together.

I just want to thank you for giving us our gorgeous puppy saffron(sherry by previous name). She is a delight to live with, although a little over-excited at times, but thats what puppies do. Shes absolutely beautiful and loving her home, enjoying the walks and she has already made loads of new friends, most of them bigger than her.

Elsa, our gorgeous 10ish year old collie/german shepherd (we think)has been with us for about 6 weeks now. She has settled beautifully with us and our other two dogs. She is not as nervous now with traffic and is slowly learning to sit at the kerb without backing away from extra noisy vehicles. She loves food! and leaps about like a lunatic when I come down in the morning because she knows she is going to get a bonio or something similar. Although I like to think she is pleased to see me, too. I'm so pleased we found out about this site otherwise we would never have had the privilege of having her to live with us.

Dear all visitors,

I was thinking of putting foster pup Tara, onto an agility website (looking for a home) as she shows so much promise in obedience and agility.

I have found agilitynet site but I cannot work out how to get onto it. Does anyone have any ideas? Can anyone help? (I really am hopeless at this computer melarky).

Still no progress with the camera software either :(

Thanks for any help with this, Alison
